<p>Recently a customer of ours came to us wanting to spruce up his 2010 GT-R.  We gladly helped out by sourcing a set of Volk Racing G12&#8242;s wheels &amp; Volk Dura Lug for him.</p>

<p>The freshly <a href="http://www.sp-power.com/2011/10/volk-racing-g12-for-nissan/">released Volk G12&#8242;s</a> are a great upgrade for the GT-R platform.  Having  really aggressive offsets, the Volk G12&#8242;s  give the R35 a very menacing look while retaining a very light weight.</p>

<p>A little more than a year ago we received a call from a customer in Canada named Shawn. Shawn is an avid exotic car collector who likes to regularly take his <del></del>machines out to track and run the 1/8th strip.  Shawn was looking to upgrade his stock 2009 <del></del>GT-R with the HKS GT570 kit.  <del></del>He chose us to build his car because he had seen the reliable work we&#8217;ve done in the past with various R35 GT-R builds.  It became only a matter of time before Shawn would get the craving for more power. A  year later Shawn was in contact with us once again wanting just that!</p>
<p><a href="http://www.sp-power.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/IMG_3100.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-large wp-image-22322" title="IMG_3100" src="http://www.sp-power.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/IMG_3100-690x459.jpg" alt="" width="690" height="459" /></a></p>
<p>At this point in time Shawn was looking for power  that he could clock mid 9&#8242;s quarter miles in at the track.  <del></del>Put simply&#8230; more brute power at a reliable level!  We had the perfect solution for his <del></del>needs, <del></del>our SPE1000 kit.</p>
<p>Our SPE1000<del></del> kit utilizes Twin Greddy TD06SH turbos re-engineered to SP specifications.  <del></del><del></del> In conjunction with a *SPE spec built block, *SPE spec fuel system, and *SPE spec tune, we&#8217;re able to boost the VR38 motor upwards <del></del>of 950+ horsepower.</p>
<p>After Shawn received SPE1000 <del></del> he happily ran the 1/8th mile at the track <del></del>and consistently clocked in 6.35 -6.50 times doing over 100 launches in the process.  At this point Shawn is content with his SPE1000 built GT-R.</p>
<p>Shawn sent us his SPE1000 GT-R once more to get<del></del> it a bit more track orientated.  Shawn opted for a wingless look by picking up our TiTek <del></del>carbon fiber trunk, as well as a TiTek center gauge console <del></del>and TiTek center shifter console, and Bride Vorga racing seats to keep him secure while at the track.  Shawn also <del></del>upgraded his existing exhaust to our Titek titanium <del></del>race exhaust and race mid-pipe. <del></del>The LSD was replaced with an OS Giken TCD <del></del>unit<del> </del>and Whiteline sway bar with endlinks were also added. To finish off Shawn&#8217;s new look we paired his GT-R with 18&#8242; Volk Superlaps 9.5F /10.5R with Mickey Thompson P305/35&#8242;s  on all four corners.</p>

Then a 3 dimensional form is made to allow for concentrated and uniform flow of the metal.  With the capabilities of utilizing Aluminum 6010, endorsed by RAYS original forging techniques, vast improvements in rigidity are achieved, asserting security for use on the street. </p></div>

<p>Our buddy Brian Duong from Mackin Industries stopped by the other day with some samples of some of their new Rays Engineering lineup. If you&#8217;re not in the know, Mackin Industries is based out in Santa Fe Springs, and is the predominant distributor for Volk Racing/Rays, Yokohama, ARC, and other top tier manufacturers straight from Japan.</p>

<p>First up is the Gram Lights 57V, which I like to call the little brother of the recently released TE37-V. Immediately when the TE37-V dropped, all the old school jdm heads were stuck on it, and who&#8217;s to blame them? The Gram Lights 57V sports the same touch with the two toned scheme sporting the gunmetal face with polished barrel, and definitely gives me a nostalgic relapse of what a JDM wheel is supposed to look like. Extremely lightweight, and very RWD friendly, these will quickly become the old school tuner&#8217;s choice wheel.</p>

<p>Next up is the Rays Homura 2&#215;7, which is sure to be a favorite as well. The one piece cast wheel sports the classic mesh design, and definitely looks like a winning model for all walks of life.</p>

<p>Lastly is the Volk Racing G12. Similar to that of the Homura 2&#215;7, the G12 boasts a more aggressive spoke pattern and classy paint overlay, and is so versatile that you will probably start seeing these on a variety of models ranging from the Mitsubishi EVO X to a Lexus GS430. What really caught my attention are the pockets in the spokes of the wheel to save weight. We didn&#8217;t get to specifically capture this unique feature, but be sure to keep that in mind when you&#8217;re researching for a new wheel!</p>
<p>We only got a taste of the wheels that were showcased at this year&#8217;s Tokyo Auto Salon, but be sure to be on the lookout for more wheels from Volk Racing/Rays this coming year. Special thanks to Brian Duong for making the trip down here to show us these rad rollers!</p>

<p>The previous cars we&#8217;ve featured here on our blog have all been known to rip through pavement at blistering speeds excess of 130mph. We decided to switch it up and feature something unique&#8230;something that doesn&#8217;t cost upwards of $80,000 from the factory, but still looks just as desirable &#8211; I&#8217;m talking about Brian Duong&#8217;s 2008 Infiniti G37.</p>
<p>Brian is a 4 year veteran at Mackin Industries, and is definitely the guy to go to if you&#8217;re looking for a set of some sexy MAG blue TE37&#8242;s like the ones he has on his ride.</p>

<p>Though not as nimble as his previously owned Nissan 350z, his recent pride and joy is definitely sporty enough, and is much more luxurious to safely transport his new pride and joy &#8211; his baby girl.</p>
<p>This G37 sports a sophisticated, yet assertive body kit designed by AIT Racing located right in the heart of City of Industry. To add an additional flair to the front end, a pair of ARC diffusers, and a Seibon carbon hood were installed. Brian left the OEM factory lip trunk spoiler to keep the lines seamless.</p>

<p>In order to reinforce stability Brian sourced a set of HKS Hipermax coilovers to drop the body closer to the ground for a lower center of gravity. GTSPEC braces wrap the underbody to ensure no flexing is allowed when gripping the pavement, as well as a rigid strut bar to secure the upper shock mounts.</p>
<p>Not even the seductive MAG TE37&#8242;s would be able to keep your attention away from the Project Mu big brake kit. 6pot calipers fasten the front, while 4pot calipers in the rear take on the role of the wingman you wish you had.</p>

<p>Brian recently came to us with an ARC oil cooler that he needed to have installed. Unfortunately since the oil cooler was originally designed for a 350z, fabrication was essential. Our techs immediately went to work by creating custom brackets, as well as trimming down some excess metal in order to flawlessly install the oil cooler. Luckily the hoses that came with the cooler were long enough, and posed no problem.</p>
<p>Infiniti has quickly risen to the occasion for tuners who are looking for a luxurious sports car that can handle the daily grind, and look sexy doing it. Brian&#8217;s Nissan Z was one of the sickest to hit SoCal concrete, and his new G37 doesn&#8217;t disappoint.</p>
