After being down and out of commission for quite a while, we finally have the SP35 GTR back on the dyno. The juices are flowin’, and the purr of the new transmission is exhilarating! The tones of the bigger GReddy blow-off valves are much sweeter as well. At its current stage we have yet to start tuning the boost, so I cant wait until those turbos are spooling all the power they can. Out of all the R35 GTR’s that have been tuned on our dyno, this one by far sounds the nicest, and this is not being said out of a bias reproach. Perhaps its just the refreshing notes of the new BOV’s + transmission, either way I can’t wait to see the final numbers on our new beast! Stay tuned!

The GReddy Type29R carbon fiber air duct for the R35 GTR has yet to be released, but we give you one of the few reviews before it launches onto the market. GReddy cleverly introduced this air duct to direct airflow straight to the GReddy Type29 XL intercooler, rather than a high percentage of the air dispersing into the atmosphere from the bumper ducts. The fitment is top notch, seamlessly finding its home behind the bumper and snugly in front of the Type29 intercooler. There are four mounting points, two on the top, and two on the bottom. The carbon weave is beautiful, and the glossy coating is seamless. Definitely a high-end product!

Be sure to give one of our sales reps a call if you’re interested in this product! We will give you more information regarding its release and price!

As the motor build has come to a close, our techs have started directing their attention to the transmission which is absolutely essential when trying to produce this much horsepower. It has come to our attention that transmission problems are a dime a dozen when trying to achieve more than 1000awhp from the R35 GTR. Luckily Dodson Motorsports has kept these select tuners in mind. Their Promax 10 Plate clutch kit which can yield 1000ft/lbs of torque is exactly what we needed, and is exactly what we used.

Here is a comparison of how much of a difference the OEM-spec clutch baskets vs. the Dodson clutch baskets has. The walls are significantly thicker versus the OEM one.

To also secure the new transmission upgrades is the newly acquired HKS transmission pan.

The HKS transmission oil pan has a cool honeycomb appearance to it, and definitely makes the undercarriage look meaner. Not that anyone would be able to see how cool it looks, but we still give it brownie points! HKS msrp’s the transmission pan for $895.00, and you can get it directly through us for your GTR!

“HKS Transmission Oil Pan for the GR6 NISSAN GT-R R35, utilizes high strength Aluminum casting “honey comb” design, which can improve the rigidity of the transmission case. The load to the internal components can be reduced, and the gears will rotate more smoothly. Since the GT-R is continuously evolving as a higher performance vehicle, reducing the load to the transmission with the HKS Oil Pan is highly effective and recommended for the longevity of the vehicle.”

Ever since the Lexus LFA hit the market it has been either a hit or miss kind of car. Primarily one of the key reasons why the LFA hasnt been as successful as many of its rivals is the price tag it carries. The LFA and the Nissan GTR were essentially released at the same time, and the reason why there has been a surge in GTR sales is exactly due to the price and capabilities the GTR is able to produce as a top contender amongst supercars. Personally, the LFA is a dream car of mine (just not the convertible with the frost white interior), and I am excitedly waiting for someone to drop one off here at SP. Until then I will continue to watch exciting adverts like the one below.

Here are a few more snaps of the current bolt-on build we have going on. Like mentioned before, we installed AMS downpipes, HKS resonated mid pipe, HKS Racing and Premium Suction kits, HKS spark plugs, and COBB AP with custom SPE tune on this Super Silver R35 GTR. We will be updating this article with the final numbers after we have tuned the car to see how much the bolt-on upgrades increase the factory turbos efficiency.

The last SPE750 build we completed finally made its way to the dyno for custom SPE tuning. Every GTR, and every upgrade done to the GTR has a mind of its own. Therefore; our techs need to custom tune each GTR that pulls through our facility, ensuring that every single map is tuned to the proper specs for the most power, reliability, and efficiency. Tuning time can vary depending on how much time is needed to dedicate to each map. One thing we here at SP pride ourselves on is our ability to properly tune the vehicles that enter and exit our shop.
