GT-R
SP Engineering has developed an attraction to the Nissan GT-R that goes back to the legacy skylines of the R32, R33, and R34 platform. Even though they are extremely rare in the United States, we have been fortunate to work on multiple examples in the past.
Given our love affair with the GT-R platform, we were very excited when Nissan announced the release of the R35 GT-R in the United States in 2008. We spared no time and immediately emerged ourselves in the R&D of performance products for the new GT-R. Using our shop car, the SP35 GT-R, as a test bed, we cycled through and rigorously tested multiple setups. In the process, we broke multiple dyno horsepower records and set the previous R35 GT-R quarter-mile record with a 8.793@167.68 mph pass in March of 2012.
Incorporating all of the gathered data and knowledge of the R35 platform, we are able to develop the SPE kits that we offer today.
SP Engineering R35 GT-R Packages
STAGE 1 – SPE650
The SPE650 package consists of bolt-on components that significantly improve the performance of the Nissan GT-R. OEM air filters are replaced with HKS counterparts to increase airflow efficiency. With the complete TiTek exhaust system, any exhaust flow restrictions are eliminated; thus increasing factory turbochargers output and enabling the increase of boost level to 17 psi. Fine-tuning of each car is performed by our technicians with the aid of the COBB AccessPORT to fully extract the added power. Gains of over 130 awhp are achieved on pump gas.
This is the perfect package for those wanting more power out of the factory turbochargers. Owners can decide to upgrade to a higher package at a later time and still reuse components of the SPE650 package. This added flexibility eases the worry of owners who want to seek more thrill in the future and upgrade to one of our more powerful packages.
