Project: 2008 Mitsubishi EVOx MR – Part One

A few weeks back our colleague Rick Yang picked up a 2008 Mitsubishi EVOx MR. Lucky for us our techs get to R&D all the products they want!

Step 1: Get rid of the OEM suspension
To tell you the truth, the OEM suspension is pretty damn awesome The springs are designed by the premier suspension gurus – Eibach, and the shocks are made by Bilstein, enough said. But in this day and age, OEM just doesn’t cut it…especially when you work at SP Engineering. HKS Hipermax coilovers were chosen to replace the stock coils.

Step 2: Find the sexiest/widest wheels, and slap that bitch on!
Most people wouldn’t associate the words sexy, and wide in the same sentence. We here at SP make miracles happen. Especially when it comes to our wheels…not our women. Some things you can’t always fix…but we’ll save that story for another time. Our buddies at Mackin Industries decided to hook us up with these sick Volk Racing CE28N Genesis in Burnt Silver. These uber limited wheels are so sweet that only 500 sets were produced! Sized at 18×10.5 all around wrapped in Falken Azenis rubber gives this EVO one aggressive appearance. A set of black Titek extended long lugnuts add to the finishing touches.

Step 3: Toss the clunky scrap of metal called an exhaust.
For the time being while our Titek piping is being produced, we decided to hit up Greddy to get the latest in titanium goodness. The Spectrum Elite edition seemed to fit nicely with what we were looking for, and it looks oh so pretty. The SE catback consists of a full stainless body, and two titanium tips. This exhaust is great for repelling pesky cops that are looking for street tuners to bust, with its low throaty tone that doesn’t hit decibels higher than 95dBA.

Step 4: Carbon, carbon, carbon, and more carbon!
We all love carbon, so we slapped on every carbon Titek piece we have in stock. A carbon cooling panel, air hood guide, and hood vents compliment the black body lines very nicely. The Titek hood vents (which just came in earlier this morning) were immediately installed, and complete the carbon pieces on the hood.

Stay tuned for more on this project of ours.
